24-h run of Union Minden

The 17th event of the 24-h run of Union Minden took place from June 16 to 17, 2023. Numerous teams ran to their limits for charity reasons and local recipients of the achieved donations such as the Mindener Tafel, Mannigfaltigkeit, Wärmestube St. Nicolai, Club 74 and Wildwasser were the winners.

847 runners ran 19,647 laps in the relay race.

Some runners from the successful MINDA team during lunchtime on Saturday.

The MINDA team was present with 29 participants and completed 665 laps. The condition of the runners did not matter: whether trained, occasional runner or walker.

Thanks to all participants. Many runners in our team came from our Päpinghausen site. In addition, we were also supported by our sister company in Stadthagen.

And MINDA also sponsored the laps of the Kinderschutzbund, as in the past.

In best summer weather, the runners braved the swirling dust on the running track and were motivated by samba drummers, encouraging clapping from all sides, and music.

The event was a family party, as children, grandchildren, former employees, and a dog were also at site. The youngest MINDA offspring was still in the stroller and circled the sports field in a wrap, snuggled closely to the mom.

The MINDA tent ran out of breath in the meantime, but fortunately this did not affect the runners’ condition. Thanks to the efforts of a trainee, the tent was raised again and was the center for food and breaks.

Our trainees enthusiastically grilled sausages in the early morning and attracted other young people with the scent, who then ran their laps and were rewarded with a bratwurst.

As the hours progressed, you could only hear the scraping soles on the running track. "We started to run at night and then we were rewarded with a unique sunrise in the morning!" was the common tenor.

A special thank you to the students of the Elisabeth Selbert School of Physical Therapy. They provided relaxation of the muscles to the MINDA team so that the runners did not suffer from subsequent muscle ache.

We were very happy about the moral support of our senior boss at the end of the run.

The preparation of the event and the planning of the runners for 24 hours was certainly not easy, but Jörg Altvater and Uwe Koch successfully mastered it.

Once again, it was a great event with a special flair, and everyone agreed: "We are happy to be back in 2025!"
